Solo Variations, 2024
In this a series of three silent, durational video performances that explore the themes of isolation, connection, and the human condition. Filmed in three distinct locations—my home, studio, and office—these performances delve into the complexities of individual experience in contemporary society.
In each video, I engage in a solitary performance of Cat’s Cradle, a game traditionally shared between two people. By adapting this social activity to a solitary practice, I highlight the tension between individual and collective experience. The minimalist aesthetic, featuring a single, white string and a black-and-white visual palette, emphasizes the tactile and meditative nature of the performance.
Through these repetitive actions, I invite viewers to contemplate the cyclical nature of existence and the challenges of navigating life alone. The silent, durational format allows for a meditative viewing experience, encouraging introspection and empathy.
